What is Web 2.0?

Web 2.0 is a buzzword often heard these days in relation to the internet. I was never sure what it meant until recently and I’d like to try explain at least what I think it means here using gaming analogies!If you go back in time a little to the early 90’s when the web was in its infancy and take it that the kind of content and sites we seen then were very basic text based affairs with little or no user interaction, images or functionality then this would have been level one of the internet or Web 1.0.

If you go forward in time again to the present day and extrapolate a little and think of all the feature rich, highly interactive, image, sound, video and functional rich websites we now see then this is basically the next level of the internet or Web 2.0.

Web 3.0 is on the way for any who can manage to complete level 2.0!!
